I HATE YOU ERUANTALE_ARTE.
Apr. 14th, 2005 01:06 amDidn't we JUST DISCUSS how incredibly, pathologically ashamed of my taste in music I am?
01) Total volume of music files on your computer? 6.44 GB. Plus some music videos (4.54 GB) and 37 CDs I brought with me to college and haven't gotten around to burning yet.
02) The last CD you bought was... A long, long time ago. I've got a list as long as my arm of CDs I've been meaning to buy, all those cool new bands I first saw on FST or through people's Amazon lists (umm Metric, Coheed and Cambria, Sleator-Kinney, Rilo Killey, stuff like that). I buy around six CDs a year, all at once; the last batch was Ryan Adams, The Harder They Come soundtrack with additional 60s reggae, Sum 41 (appeals to my inner 12-year-old boy), the newest Libertines album, and Steel Train (SO BAD, do not buy this). The last CD I received was The Strokes (Room on Fire) from J because I've got the poster on my wall. (I told him it was only for the color combination and he didn't believe me! But the album is good too.)
03a) Song you were listening to when you started this meme? None. I don't usually listen to music while working, it distracts me. But I've been listening the Polish Katamari Damacy FST remix a lot recently, since my innability to concentrate doesn't extend to songs in other languages. So I've got a French playlist, a Spanish playlist, an Unintelligible Muttering playlist, etc. No instrumental, though, because it bores me.
03b) Song you're listening to now? I've turned on the radio! U2, "Sunday, Bloody Sunday."
04)Five albums that mean a lot to you? Err, music doesn't really have deep significance for me. I guess the Ragtime soundtrack because I was in the orchestra and OMG LOVE the music. Same for the Children of Eden soundtrack. I can sing every word of every song on The Jayhawks' Sound of Lies and the Wallflowers' Bringing Down the Horse and Green Days' Warning and the blue Weezer album since I used to listen to them obsessively. A few mix CDs I got from friends, for sentimental reasons.
In Summary: Electric guitars, faux folk, immature punk pop. Lately J-rock because no one does rock over here anymore unless they're trying to be retro. Most of what's on 107.1 FM. Also I've got this habit of singing along, but with the harmony parts. If they don't exist I'll make them up or do chord progressions. Ahaha except that sometimes (only sometimes?) I miss, badly. My brother *hates* it when I sing for precisely this reason, but I've done harmony for so long that I do it without thinking. My legacy from seven years of being 2nd Horn, I suppose, and anyway it's fun (especially when I don't actually know the song. My brother hates *that* too).
Three people who must do this meme (and why)?
falxumbra, I think you have done this already? If you have, just point me toward the entry please.
v_voltaire: all I know is you like Less Than Jake. I like Less Than Jake! Expound?
pally_pally. You seem like you'd be really picky and particular. Am I totally wrong?
I get one more since V has probably already done. So:
b_hallward. Because I'm curious.
Off to read the new Death Note chapter!
Question:
?
I think it's reign-names? Or maybe just dynastic junk. Circa 1670, the back is in what must be Manchu even though I can't identify the letters. I got it for writing a terrible essay and am wondering what the other essays must have been like for mine to have been the "best" one. (Incidentally, the current Premier of China, Wen Jiabao, is so much against nepotism that he's banned his son from all professions involving politics and his daughter from all professions involing either politics or China. Both are effectively exiled from the PRC proper; either Wen is incredibly ethical or incredibly wary of political fallout.)
