A couple weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] kanaliya asked for volunteers to mod [livejournal.com profile] death_note. Six people applied, and all six were accepted. Together with the original two, that brought the number of community maintainers up to eight:

[livejournal.com profile] kanaliya
[livejournal.com profile] hinoko seems this is also [livejournal.com profile] kanaliya, oops.
[livejournal.com profile] eclipses
[livejournal.com profile] forunlawfulck
[livejournal.com profile] allsunday
[livejournal.com profile] untidyclaws
[livejournal.com profile] nereide
and Yours Truly.

Today, according to the user info, we have exactly two:

[livejournal.com profile] forunlawfulck
[livejournal.com profile] worstangel

It's pretty obvious what happened. [livejournal.com profile] kanaliya, unsurprisingly, is angry. Breach of trust! Abuse of power! She might not have been the most active mod ever, but she can't be happy to see [livejournal.com profile] death_note completely out of her hands after two years. ([livejournal.com profile] worstangel, as well as being a friend of mine, is also a friend of [livejournal.com profile] forunlawfulck. So that's favoritism -- except that favoritism is obviously the way to go in cases like this, since who knows what might happen when you hand community maintainership over to a complete stranger?)

So far we've had one mod post. Fairly harmless. The post that tripped it was this way-cryptic thing with buttons and boxes everywhere, nothing at all to do with Death Note. I wish I could remember who posted it.

(ETA3: It was a friend of [livejournal.com profile] forunlawfulck's -- this guy here.)

[livejournal.com profile] death_note was going so well, too! There was a rash of duplicate posts about a month ago (example), which is what lead to the call for additional mods in the first place. But since then it's been pretty well self-regulated. If you check the last few pages you won't see anything out of place.

In conclusion, the new userinfo rules are mine except for 7) and where someone changed "condusive" to "conducive" (the correct spelling). Me = can't spell to save my life. I wrote them Sunday during my half-hour of maintainer privileges -- missed the memo about a community for mods to discuss changes together, and figured if [livejournal.com profile] kanaliya thought they were too harsh she'd change them back. Just so it's clear what blame lies where. I sort of want to clarify the "must label fandom" rule to make it more obviously about lj-cuts, but, well.

ETA: saved copy of the mod volunteer post here.

ETA2: Uh, yeah, definitely wank. Posts to the community are now queued, presumably until [livejournal.com profile] forunlawfulck has decided she approves of them. CHANGED MY MIND: I was cool with the change in leadership as long as it wasn't, you know, repressive and crazy, but this is too much. Switching to [livejournal.com profile] death_eyes.
