sub_dividedSaw Underworld: Evolution with the gang on Friday. It was awful. F complained that the porn scene was gratuitous, but I loved it because for those five or however many minutes no one's heart was ripped out. Not a single lung was pierced! Blood did not flow copiously! Give me sex over decapitation any day.
I did come out of the theater wishing I'd seen the first Underworld. It looked so much less dumb.
Assigned projects for the semester include: a three page music analysis, pretend to be a 10th century Muslim scholar and draw a map of Africa, ten page "creative project" in Classic Arabic Literature. It's like my professors all got together and decided that school should be about having fun, first, and doing serious work, second. (It's also like being back in high school, but shh.) I'm seriously psyched. I may start plotting epic original fiction in the style of the Arabian Nights tonight! *so stoked XD*
You know what else is awsome? Comics Battle for Truth, Justice, and the Islamic Way:
A burly, fast-talking Kuwaiti with a dry wit, Mr. Mutawa, 34, said existing superheroes fell into two main genres: the Judeo-Christian archetype of individuals with enormous power who are often disguised or outcasts, like Superman, and the Japanese archetype of small characters who rely on each other to become powerful, like Pokémon....His superhero characters will be based on an Islamic archetype: by combining individual Muslim virtues - everything from wisdom to generosity - they build collective power that is ultimately an expression of the divine.
If they weren't Arabic-language comics I would totally buy one of the issues starring Dr. Ramzi Razem, gem expert, or Noora (special power: can read the truth in what people say). Jabbar, on the other hand...
Yes, I'm still playing Suikoden IV. No, it hasn't gotten any better. Quick, someone schedule an intervention.
