More Naval-Gazing
Aug. 2nd, 2006 11:06 pmIn the shape of: a drinking game!
Typically you use beer for these games. But no one is actually going to play this, right?
01. For every original character, one drink
02. For every original character who is also the main character, two drinks
03. If the sun is rising, take a sip
04. If the sun is setting, take a sip
05. If the sun is rising or setting during a moment of heightened emotional impact, take three
06. One drink every time someone smiles
07. One drink every time someone who was formerly smiling is explicitly said to have stopped
08. If someone who was formerly smiling and then explicitly said to have stopped smiles again, chug
09. Repeat numbers 6-8 with opening and closing eyes
10. If you're reading a work in progress, sip
11. And you doubt it'll ever be finished, chug
12. Every time someone laughs or cries, take a sip
13. If it's because they "couldn't help" themselves, take two
14. Take a drink every time it is obvious the author has had way too much fun writing official-sounding rhetoric
15. One drink for every cup of tea
16. Two drinks for every cigarette
17. Chug if any known-to-smoke character doesn't smoke at least one cigarette
18. Every time you come to a large block of expositioncleverly disguised as dialogue, one drink
19. If you think, "But real people don't talk that way!" one drink
20. If you think, "But real people don't think that way!" two drinks
21. If you think, "From the way this was written it seems to be a moment of extreme emotional significance BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF I KNOW WHY," chug
22. If you find yourself thinking, "It's obvious the author was unable to take this seriously," finish the bottle and call it a night.
Incidentally, it's been too hot to sleep all week, so if I've seemed exceptionally loopy, spammy or random today, that's why.
