Yup, I agree that the first section is the strongest--for the longest time after reading the book, I couldn't bring myself to eat beef--and the most memorable, while the middle two were less interesting/informative. I found the last section pretty awesome too; it's a very "Berkeley" chapter from the people he talks about to the places he visits.
