Today's Harry Potter's birthday and I saw Harry and the Potters and Draco and the Malfoys at the Ann Arbor district library. *g* It was a lot of fun! One housemate (who couldn't make it) tipped off another ([livejournal.com profile] fledermauskid) who could and we went together -- though the library is, like, two blocks from my house, so I probably would have heard the concert regardless.

More on the show. )

In conclusion, Draco loves his parents very much <3.

Male superheroes drawn in female superhero poses. I'm linking because of the undeniable feeling I got when I saw the cyclops pose: haven't I seen this in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. XD Suddenly it all makes sense!

Mouse gestures add on! Right-click, then draw little patterns on-screen to go back, open a new tab, close the current tab, etc. Maybe I'm just amused because I feel like I'm doing Ri Maajon out of Simoun XD.

COUNTDOWN TO FREEDOM

...

Eve, I'm so sorry, I've been unforgivably slow with Elegy. WILL EMAIL YOU TONIGHT I SWEAR.

Here's the entry I started on Sunday:

"I think the rum is wearing off, I can post something about Deathly Hallows now with a 50/50 that shot that it will be coherent. (I might have been a little gone when I started reading too. XD; What can I say, they were passing out wine at the bookstore and I never turn down free drinks.)"

...but I must have been drunker than I thought, because at that point, I fell asleep without writing anything about the book. ^^; I've been reading reviews here and there, and have noted with a sinking feeling that most are not nearly as fun to read as Deathly Hallows. It's not that I loved the book without reservations and anything negative harshes my squee, it's more that...some of these reviews are so personal. Like calling my friend and listening to her complain about how she didn't like the ending because she'd predicted all the deaths and wanted J. K. Rowling to surprise her. And, okay, reviews are personal, they're a personal reaction to the work of another person, but there's a point where it's not even about the book anymore, you know?

So that, and market saturation, and knowledge of my own un-hardcoreness (I've read most of the books within a few weeks of release, but I haven't reread any of them), are why I haven't written anything about Deathly Hallows. But I have to now, don't I, or this entire entry will have been one long complaint.

Deathly Hallows, Spoilers! )

I'm probably forgetting a few points but I really have to go eat something, before I pass out ^^;;.

EDIT: HP7 reactions I agreed with enjoyed:

Here's what I thought. (Also: Best movie so far, though granted I haven't seen 2 or 4. (And also: Luna~~~!))

I met a real-life Dolores Umbridge yesterday. Cut for RL )

Afterwards we went to Animania. I bought the last four raffle tickets and won...this. -_-; I swear, I can't escape this fandom, it follows me around.

Major news coming up in a bit, stay tuned.

EDIT: Meanwhile, over on [livejournal.com profile] v_voltaire:

Book 7 Death Pool
250 pages into Deathly Hallows - warning! spoilers!
Final reflections on Harry Potter

<333 Valerie. I haven't made it that far -- still on page 100-something, yes I know I read slow, SHUT UP -- but I couldn't resist checking out what other people were saying. So far I'm a little confused. Was that mysterious shadow the profile of certain person we all thought was dead, or wasn't it?! Maybe it's a doppleganger or a ghost? Is there a spell for that? I wished I'd re-read books 1-6 in preparation for this, like my housemates did. (Leaked text courtesy of this post.)

EDIT2: Yesterday was "pretend you've read Deathly Hallows and post fake spoilers day" -- NO, the book hasn't leaked. (If it has leaked, I haven't heard about it.)
