ARG stupid wisdom teeth coming in crooked and cutting my mouth into little pieces. I feel like Agrajag. Not to mention a total dork.

Speaking of mention, I've mentioned this before but I want to write Naruto historical fiction with the Cast as a group of Albanian mountain bandits at the end of the Heroic Age. To this end, I was researching tribal customs in Albania during the 19th century (NOT for the fic- for a paper never mind that I wrote fanfiction notes on the back that were almost as detailed as my paper notes on the front XD) when I came across the following reference:

Excellent eating they said, only you must cut off the head because it is poisonous (it is not, but it can bite sharply); also because you must always cut off a snake's head. If you leave it as dead and another snake finds it before nightfall, it will cure it even though its back be in pieces.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SASUKE/OROCHIMARU REFERENCE. THIS FIC WAS CLEARLY MEANT TO BE!
Seriously, though, the rest of the scenario fits scarily well provided I stretch the timeline a bit. It's expansive so I probably won't write it but the notes alone are making me very happy. \^_^/

Right, so with all of the focus on Kerry and Bush people tend to forget that there are, in fact, alternative political parties out there. Political parties with absolutely no need to be reasonable since they will never in a million years obtain a majority vote. Here in Michigan those who feel the need to express their dissatisfaction with the current system have the following ideological alternatives:

The Green Party (Far Left)

For:
Dismantling the military/industrial complex
Universal health care
Gay rights
Hugging trees

Against:
Global warming
Racism
Big business
The short term

(Formerly the home of Ralph Nadar, until the Party decided it didn't want to be held responsible for the re-election of George W. Bush and told him he was on his own.)

The Libertarian Party (anarchists, all of them)

For:
"Self-Ownership"
The right to arm, and heavily
The legalization of every drug known to man
Personal freedom (and everything that entails)

Against:
Economic regulation
Social regulation
Government interference in general
CLASSIFICATION as left or right -wing.

(On an unrelated note, the Libertarian website sites the Japanese justice system as the only one that's consistently lowered crime rates, supposedly because it follows an "individual restitution" model and not because, oh, criminals are convicted in over 99% of cases. Let's all be like Japan!)

The Natural Law Party (aka The Socialists)

For:
The benefit of all humanity
The liberation of the oppressed!
Immediate withdrawal of all US troops everywhere
Full employment, worker control

Against:
Communism (ha!)
Capitalism
Racism, classism. sexism, elitism, non-cooperatism, any other "ism"s I've forgotten
The shackles of our current repressive capitalist society

(Actually I agree with the socialist position on a number of points but that scary red-text-on-black-background-down-with-the-oppressor thing they've got going on? Kind of frightening.)

Ralph Nadar (No political party. His right to be on the Michigan ballot is being debated in court right now.)

For:
All that stuff the Green Party is for
Additionally, severe automobile regulation
Sticking it to the two-party system

Against:
All that stuff the Green Party is against
Additionally, George W. Bush
People who tell him he shouldn't run for office

(His website reads like a cult-of-personality manifesto. It scares me.)

United States Tax Payers (Far Right)

For:
The right to arm. Semi-automatics for all!
The Ten Commandments as a legal institution
Quoting the Bible in every situation
The Constitution (well that's a relief at least)

Against:
Gay rights, a woman's right to choose
The draft, allowing women to serve in the army
Immigration
Welfare, Medicare, "the entrenched socialism strangling American politics"

(My roommate and her boyfriend are seriously considering voting for this party. Someone help me.)

I did try to be funny, but, well. I have no sense of humor. The second biggest debate in Michigan right now is over Prop 2, the one that would make Gay Marriage constitutionally illegal. (It is already illegal; this proposition would amend the state constitution to say so.) Right now it looks like Prop 2 is gonna pass. SAVE ME PLZ I'M SURROUNDED BY REPUBLICANS.
