...did I say Monday? I meant the packages will be mailed out today (Thursday) and that I suck, badly. They might be there in time for the New Year.

La la la Sayu shortfic for deathnote100. It's my first time winning the weekly challenge, which feels nice even if it was by default.

Does anyone remember this poll? It's where we guessed who Corp Kira was. I think it's incredibly amusing that the only person who got it right did so by accident. Oookay and about the Death Note fic I'm writing now: it's embarrassing. Paralysis-inducing embarrassing, by far the most embarasssing thing I've ever written. If I ever post it I may just die of shame. [livejournal.com profile] keraha, I think I finally understand how you felt about that fic where L got fat, because woah. Bad bad bad backstory.

RANDOMLY: The Phantom of the Opera movie is the most visually stunning film ever. I haven't seen the play so I can't make comparisons, but damn the movie is pretty. Pretty crazy, too: half the cast is cracked. Madness roses graveyards dungeons masks gypsies falling chandeliers it's awesome! I was wondering, though - is Raoul supposed sing better than the Phantom?

In a bout of complete anti-socialism and work-avoidance, I read though all the manga on mochi-mochi's website. That's a shonen ai site, which usually means I'm trying really hard not to think about something >_<. Anyway my favorite manga was Kiss Scandal, which is about a gay senator from Maine and his gay secretary. It's wonderful because THE ENDING IS PERFECT (TOO BAD IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN THIS COUNTRY IN THIS LIFETIME) and also because Colin and Paul are "reversible": no seme/uke. How refreshing.

Why haven't I been reading more shoujo? The characters are 3x10^546 times more attractive, the writing is (very often) smarter, and, best of all? It ends. You read a volume and that's it, it's done, there's closure. Such a great feeling. Today, for instance, I was doing some last-minute holiday shopping at Borders (ours is the very first one!) and I wanted to pick up some manga since they've got every recent Viz, Tokyo Pop, Dark Horse, etc release there, all volumes. I realized I couldn't buy half the titles I wanted to because they go on for too long. I was also thrown off by the way they'd rearranged the store - manga now takes up all four sides of this huge collumn-like thing in the center, meaning that no matter which title you're looking for SOMEONE will be able to see you. I think I liked it better when there was less manga and more privacy, because ahaha I'm a closet geek and I hate doing these things in public.

Everyone else in the entire building has left for the holidays already, or at least that's what it feels like. Out of 1500 people I'm the only one left and it's strange, strange, strange. Pretty soon it'll be just me and those poor international students who can't afford a plane ticket home.
