1. The laptop's CD/DVD burner and I are fighting a war. Every day there are another half-dozen casualties. As I gaze across my desk, littered with the corpses of failed CD-Rs, my determination grows. Comrades! Victims of write-error! I swear on my honor that your sacrifice will not be in vain! (tarigwaemir, eruantale_arte, I’m sorry.)

3. What else was really short but really good recently?
pinkpuruu, Bleach 23. Captures a moment. Several moments.
sesame_seed, Viewfinder (deserted island). SO SO FUNNY. Also, go play Guess That Pairing with her.
tarigwaemir, Princess Mononoke. It's all thematic and stuff.
And eruntale_arte's Canterella/historical fic, which she should hurry up and post to 52_flavours so I can link to it. Giovanni Sforza! ♥
ETA: unlocked. Go read! You don't have to have read Cantarella, since this is more historical fiction than anything else.

4. Much more daunting are svz_insanity’s AkiHika and pellaz’s SasuNaru recs. K! You like epics too!

5. Cantarella OMG. I wish I knew more about Renaissance Italian noblemen so I could fangirl their manga incarnations. This series has, besides my eternal love for being set in Rome in the 15th century, very pretty art, twisted sibling relationships, power politics, an assassin who is also an angel (?), gratuitous boylove, and swordplay. It’s been picked up for US release, eruantale_arte says. Here's her description:

In the series, Rodrigo Borgia (later, the Pope Alexander VI) offers his illegitimate son's soul to the devil in hopes that he himself would become pope. Growing up, Cesare Borgia feels that he has no one in the world he can count on and finds himself relying more and more on his "demonic" powers. This gives rise to his desire for power and conquest--a quest to become his own god.

Post-script! Eruantale, have you read Eternal Sabbath chapters 63 and 64 yet? If yes COME HERE SO I CAN RANT AT YOU. You were right and now it's a cliffhanger and AHHH I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE. I hear there's only one more volume after this IZAKU BETTER GET HIS IN THE END. *gibbers*)

I should mention that I uploaded the first five volumes of Yami no Matsuei for darkeyedwolf a few days ago. (edit: taken down) Also, because telophase could use some more traffic (HA HA HA): check out this post of hers. It's mostly about what makes Fruits Basket a gateway drug really easy manga to get into, but there's also a bit about what makes Yami no Matsuei so hard. Interesting stuff.

Just doing my part to break the cycle of impossible writing prompts. Eternal Sabbath is awesome, btw: it's dark and psychological (the main character (female) is a research psychologist) and creepy in a good way. Recent chapters have actually been sort of like Death Note (proof), but there's nothing supernatural about this series. Instead everything is explained with "science," including the fact that the main character (male) has super-healing powers and practices casual mind control.

ES is also by the mangaka of MARS, which amuses me to no end (typical shojo romance manga --> dark seinan insanity, hahaha).
