Time left before the first day of classes: three weeks from Tuesday. I'm moving in the Saturday before, which incidentally is also my brother's sixteenth birthday. He'll have to spend it unloading stuff from the car. At least sixteen is not as much of a milestone for guys (I think?). Sarah, my roommate, seems pretty cool. Mostly we've talked academics; she seems to be a serious student.

Sarah talks about her boyfriend a lot, and whenever she mentions him I have to make an effort not to act like the single grouch I am. I think I might have done the same thing with D so I try not to mind too much (if you're reading: sorry I). Because really, what else if there to talk about if not your own experiences?

Speaking of, lately there's been:

NJ Governor's Surprise Resignation
Everyone in the state knows McGreevey's a slimeball, but I don't think anyone was expecting this. It's sort of depressing that the constant (and true) allegations of kickbacks, insider trading, and missuse of state funds leveled against him weren't enough to get him to resign, but being gay was.

Weather Stuff
Today's thunderstorm was pretty spectacular. I watched the lighting from the hammock outside, even though I really should have known better. Large metal object in a flat field, and all that. My grandmother was struck by lightning. She died. And if she was killed when my dad was one, and was six years younger than grandpa, and he was married at 23 (etc etc)… then she was married at 17 and dead at 19. My age, so that's pretty scary.

Writing Stuff
I keep getting distracted. First it was this strange desire to finish FFX-2 (thankfully that one stopped when I remembered why I quit playing in the first place), then it was DDR (I'm still in shape for it! Yay!), and then it was anime marathoning. Stelvia of the Universe is great, I really shouldn't have given up on it after the first episode (last year). The only problem is that it's not sinister enough. Every one of the projected conspiracies turns out to be a legitimate threat, and in the end very few people die. Fooey.

Real-life Stuff, for V and rucken but mostly V
Freshman orientation for FHS marching band is today and tomorrow. I was thinking of swinging by towards the end and maybe going with Alex to see Zuri's new apartment. I don't think I can stomach the actual orientation (Mr. Right had the freshmen do the full figure eight before they even knew how to march sideways), but it'd be nice to see Zuri again. He imported the Naruto fighting game and I got to hear all about it, at length, from Alex.

20% of the United States works the midnight-to-6am shift. Are there really so many businesses that absolutely have to be open at all hours of the day? Aren't some of them overdoing it?

I want a teacher who'll give me an A with a hundred plusses hand-written after it.
