You know, the Czech new wave film? I wanted to learn blend modes and color level manipulation, so I made some bordereless textless icons from it. I'm currently debating whether to add text and borders, or to leave well enough alone.

For my own reference, here are the blend modes I used:
NONE: 01, 05, 08, 10, 11, 20, 28, 31, 34, 35 (8 has a radial blur)
HARD LIGHT: 02, 09, 14
SOFT LIGHT: 13, 19
LINEAR BURN: 06, 07, 12, 15, 32
LINEAR DODGE: 04, 18
OVERLAY: 22
HUE: 16
LINEAR LIGHT (background fill color is similar): 23, 24, 29
LINEAR LIGHT (background fill color is complementary): 21, 25, 26, 27, 30
LUMINOSITY: 17, 33
General steps (Photoshop Elements) were:
1. open
2. crop
3. sharpen (filter --> sharpen)
4. resize (image --> resize)
5. adjust contrast (enhance --> brightness/contrast --> brightness/contrast)
6. adjust colors (enhance --> brightness/contrast --> levels)
7. sharpen
8. open, select all, copy, paste icon-sized brush
10. make brush bottom layer
11. change blend mode of top (image) layer (option on selected layer in layers palette)
12. mess with opacities (option on selected layer in layers palette)
13. save
-Feel free to use as bases or as is.
-Comment if taking, credit is nice but not necessary.
-Brushes are either from
iconistas or something I made myself.
